Allermuir Hill 1

The highest of the group overlooking Edinburgh, Allermuir (Hill) is a shapely hill and a fine viewpoint.

Paths approach the summit of Allermuir from several directions so it may be combined with various other hills and routes. The most obvious is to combine it with Caerketton as a loop, starting and finishing at the Hillend ski centre (NT 244666). Another rather attractive approach is from Boghall (NT 245652), returning to the Boghall track via Caerketton, the col above the ski centre and a path skirting the top of the woods to the east of Caerketton. Coming from the Castlelaw car park to the south, a broad track leads to the foot of the final climb to the top of Allermuir.
