The summit of Capelaw is merely the highest point of a pleasant broad grassy ridge, offering a range of views as it curves round from E-W to N-S.
The summit itself can be incorporated into a walk up Allermuir but to enjoy the full traverse of the Capelaw it is logical to include it in a round starting from Flotterstone or the Castlelaw car park (NT 230637), passing the summits of Castlelaw, Allermuir and (possibly) Harbour Hill.
