Castlelaw Hill 1 Castlelaw Hill 2

Castlelaw (Hill) is well situated between the northernmost Pentland Hills and Glencorse Reservoir. With relatively steep slopes in all directions, its summit is an excellent viewpoint. The view southwest, straight down the valley of the Logan Burn is arguably one of the best in the Pentlands. A red flag flown from the pole on the summit indicates that army exercises may be taking place on the firing ranges at the bottom of the hill's southern slopes.

There is easy access via the wide track from the Castlelaw car park (NT 230637) to within 60m (vertically) of the summit. The best path to the summit branches off this track at a junction to the NNE (NT 227652). Castlelaw can be included in a round via Allermuir, Capelaw and (possibly) Harbour Hill.
