Hare Hill
Pentland Top 7
449m
NT 172620

The summit of Hare Hill is very flat and the approaches to it are easy-angled with the exception of the steep SE slope to the Logan Burn and NE into the Green Cleugh.

Hare Hill can be traversed as the only summit on a round starting from the Threipmuir car park to the north. It is also logically combined with walks starting from the A702 by using the excellent track that descends from the "Kips col" (NT 174604) to cross the upper reaches of the the Logan Burn valley. A return to the Kips col can be made via the path that climbs SW from the southern end of the Green Cleugh. The col between East Kip and Scald Law is gained by climbing up from The Howe (NT 190620) then contouring below the plantation before following the path SSW. The "Carnethy col" (NT 195616) is gained by continuing up the steep path from The Howe. Note that the path to the south of Hare Hill at an altitude of about 400m before dropping down to the Green Cleugh can be very unpleasantly wet. In poor visibility there is some dangerously steep and rocky ground to be avoided when descending from the east end of Hare Hill.

Warning: The information on this page is not sufficient for a safe ascent of this or any other hill and should only be used in combination with an accurate map and outdoor experience.
