Mount Maw is unusual amongst Pentland hills in that three steep grassy ridges converge at its summit. As a consequence, its traverse is full of interest and there are good views in all directions from its summit.
Best ascended from Baddinsgill, Mount Maw makes a fine first or last summit on a rough, steep round, taking in The Mount, Wether Law, East Cairn Hill and the generally good drovers road to/from the Cauldstane Slap col (NT 118589).
