The Mount 1

The summit of The Mount marks the northern end of the fine ridge leading over Grain Heads to Mount Maw. With relatively steep slopes in almost all direction and set high above the North Esk Reservoir, The Mount is a good viewpoint.

Although The Mount can be climbed from the North Esk Reservoir track that leads up from Carlops village, rounds incorporating its summit are harder to identify. Although the ridge walk to Mount Maw is very pleasant, The Mount is logically climbed from the East and Mount Maw from the West. Continuing NW from The Mount over Wether Law to East Cairn Hill, the terrain is rough. From East Cairn Hill, rounds continue either East to the Bore Stane and back past North Esk Reservoir to Carlops, or West to Cauldstane Slap and then back to Baddinsgill Reservoir.
