Penicuik Community Development Trust Publishing

This branch of the activities of Penicuik Community Development Trust aims to make available printed works linked to the Scottish town of Penicuik.

The first tile began the Penicuik Heritage Series and was published in April 2007.

Glimpses of Travels throughout the North American Continent Penicuik Provost A. G. Wilson described visits he made in 1892 and 1924 to members of his family and other friends from Penicuik who had emigrated to the United States and Canada. (This title is currently out of print but will be reprinted in the late Autumn of 2009)

The second title in the series was published as a contribution to celebrations of the 300 years since the beginning of papermaking in Penicuik.

An Account of Two Visits to The Valleyfield Mills of Alexander Cowan & Sons Penicuik includes an annotated reprint of part of the diplomatic report of the Japanese Embassy's visit to Penicuik in 1872 written by Prince Iwakura's secretary, Kune Kumitake, together with a reprint of a booklet privately published by the papermaker Frederick W Catcheside, who was conducted round the mills in 1881.
